RE: Culinary Craft [Now with a participation gift]
At the suggestion of cupcak3xx I thought I would give doing a kitchen a try smile . I made two shiny new sims-- a female, Beatrix Allen, and a male, Donovan Arceneaux-- and moved them into a home together in the hopes that sparks would fly, and they would produce mucho sim babies, lol. So I tried to make the kitchen look both masculine and feminine. And while I don't typically use much clutter in the spaces I design, I do feel like this room could have used a tad bit of it, lol.

cupcak3xx, thank you smile . We do have the same tile, lol. That particular tile pattern is the only one that came with the game that I really like. I tend to use it too much, lol.

As I said in the BADrooms bath challenge, these are the first 2 challenges I've participated in, so feel free to give any pointers you might feel I need. (I guess that means I should post a heidy ) Because I got in the mood to do both of them at the same time, I did both rooms for the same sim.

Olivia Harrison is Absent-Minded, Lucky, Friendly, a Natural Cook, and a Bookworm.
Because she's young, fun and a cook, I wanted the kitchen to be a very bright and happy room with lots of texture. I also was a little bit inspired by some Keep Calm Gallery prints, so I threw together a few paintings to go in this room.

I call this the "Tutti Frutti" Kitchen because of the colors and the overall fruit theme.

heidy oke here we go !

First of all, I think you captured the young happy vibe you were going for very well. The name tutti fruttie does the kitchen justice. It's a bit bright, I would advice to tone down the countertop from your kitchen a little and make it more neutral, it would give the kitchen a bit more of a calm vibe. Like the wood from the doors or the windows, it brings things together and evens the colors out a bit without losing that sparkle you have going on. What I very much like is that you dared to plop all these bright colors in there and give it a go.

Other then that, for the taking of the pictures it could help to tone down the light in your game a little, or turn off some that might also work. That way it wont be so glowy ( I have no other word for this, but I hope you know what I mean).

I think you did a great job at capturing what you had in mind.

m_evans - very cool kitchen. I really like the modern, clean vibe it has and I love the wire chairs! I do have a burning question though....did sparks fly between Beatrix and Donovan...inquiring minds want to know.

spacerock, very cheerful kitchen! I agree with Ankuuh on putting in some neutral colors (I'm thinking some nice warm, not too dark wood) to balance things a little bit. I like the tutti frutti theme and though I don't use that green I'm liking it a lot and I am once again inspired to step outside my comfort zone of colors and experiment.

Lilymayrose, Thank you smile .

Bellarose, sparks did fly, which I was surprised happened, after I realized Donovan had the good sense of humor trait, and Bea had the no sense of humor trait. But they hit it off, I guess opposites do attract, LOL.

Spacerock, love the bright colors!

m_evans, I totally forgot your kitchen ! Love that kitchen very very nice. Modern and stylish but not cold and hard. The wooden floor is a really smart choice and I love that color on the wall !

m_evans: I'm a fan of that wall color as well. I know blue is a "cool" color, but you've made it so comfortable and inviting!
Spacerox: Kudos for choosing an adventurous color scheme! I always wind up with very monochromatic rooms
Everyone with TS3: You all are tempting me to reinstall TS3 because of all the delicious custom content you've got!

Since it's been snowing here, I've had lots of indoor time to work on some challenges. I started the James family for the kid's room challenge, but wound up finishing the kitchen instead.

My version of Elena isn't quite as cute as the one for the other challenge. Since she's very athletic and excitable, the kitchen has plenty of open space to play. Her mother likes to cook with ingredients she grew, and the family usually have dinner in the kitchen.
